You have seen the ads. Make 500 USD a day typing from home, no experience needed, start today. Those are scams, every single one of them.
But here is the thing the scammers are stealing from honest work. You really can earn 500 USD online with no degree and no special skills. It just looks nothing like the ad. I do this kind of work, and I am going to show you the real version.
If you are reading this, you can read and understand English. You can type, even if it feels slow for now. You have opinions about whether a website is confusing. You might speak a second language. Every one of those is something somebody online will pay for, and none of them need a degree or a certificate.
So when I say "no skills," I mean no special training. Not no ability. You have more to work with than you think.

You are not going to find one magic gig that pays 500 USD. That is the scammer's promise, and it is fake. What actually works is stacking a few small income streams that each pay a bit, and letting them add up over a few weeks.

✕ They send you a check and ask you to cash it and buy something with it. A classic trap that leaves you owing the bank.
✕ The company has no real website, no LinkedIn, no trace online.

This space is crawling with fake jobs, especially anything labeled "data entry." Run every opportunity through this before you give it your time or your details.

Testing websites and apps
Companies pay you to click around their website or app and say what you think out loud while you record your screen. The big name is UserTesting. A typical recorded test pays about 10 USD for fifteen to twenty minutes, and live interviews can pay 30 to 120 USD a session. Honest catch: you will not get a test every day. The testers who do well run three to five sites at once, like UserTesting, Userlytics, and Respondent, and pull 100 to 500 USD a month between them.

Surveys and microtasks
Lowest barrier, lowest pay. The ones worth your time are Prolific (short research studies, better than most, especially in the UK or Europe), Amazon Mechanical Turk, and Clickworker, usually somewhere around 3 to 12 USD an hour. Treat this lane as filler between bigger tasks, not the thing you build around.

Transcription
If you can type and listen carefully, this is solid beginner money. Rev and GoTranscript let you in after a short test and pay weekly through PayPal. Rev pays roughly 0.30 to 1.10 USD per audio minute; GoTranscript around 0.60 USD, with new transcribers averaging about 150 USD a month. The honest bit: an "audio minute" is not a real minute. A one hour file can take a beginner three or four hours, so your real hourly rate starts low and climbs as your speed improves.

Data entry, carefully
The most scam infested corner of remote work. Real data entry exists and pays about 14 to 25 USD an hour, but only use sources you can trust: Amazon Mechanical Turk, Clickworker, The Smart Crowd, or vetted listings on FlexJobs. Run anything else through the scam filter above, twice.

AI data work
The best paying option on the list, and it still needs no degree. You help train AI by rating answers, comparing responses, or rewriting text. Writing based platforms like DataAnnotation and Outlier pay beginners somewhere around 15 to 25 USD an hour. The catch is a qualification test up front, and work that comes in waves. No single lane hands you 500 USD overnight. You get there by stacking. Here is the plan I would follow from a standing start:

Pick three lanes that fit you. A safe combo for most people is one testing site, transcription, and AI data work. Add surveys only as filler.

Apply to everything in the same week. Most of these have a short test, so knock them out back to back.

Pass the tests carefully. Read the instructions twice. A rushed test can lock you out for 30 days on some sites.

Work in short focused blocks and keep your quality high. Accuracy is what gets you more and better paid work.

When one lane goes quiet, move to another. The whole point of stacking is that the income never fully stops.
Do this with steady part time effort and 500 USD is a realistic first month. Push harder on the testing, transcription, and AI lanes and you can beat that.
⚠ A quick word on taxes
On almost all of these platforms you are an independent contractor, not an employee, so nobody takes taxes out for you. In the US that means a 1099 and self employment tax on top of your regular tax.
Simple rule: set aside 25 to 30 percent of what you earn and do not touch it. The rules differ by country, so check what applies where you live.
You do not need a degree, a certificate, or any special skill to earn your first 500 USD online. You need a working laptop, a bit of patience, and the discipline to ignore anything that promises easy money. Pick three lanes. Apply this week. Pass the tests. Stack the work. That is the whole secret, and it is boring on purpose, because the boring version is the one that actually pays.
